At Squared Circle Bookkeeping, we are passionate about finding new ways outside of our daily business practices to be of service and give back to the community.

The unkind effects of cancer have inspired us to support those who are battling cancer or have been affected by the disease.  For those of us who have endured the heartbreak of watching it take the ones we love, we want to see the latest advances in technology applied more aggressively to the treatment, and hopeful cure, of cancer.

The Jimmy V Foundation, founded by Jimmy Valvano while he was fighting cancer, has been researching cures and treatments since 1993 and has raised over $170,000 million dollars going directly to cancer research.  One of the most inspirational speeches about the fight against cancer was given by Jimmy V at the 1993 ESPY’s less than two months before he passed away.  We encourage you to watch it here.

Even though we do not have the resources to stop cancer completely, there are many ways to decrease the risk.  One fundamental way is through education, particularly of young people.  Action for Healthy Kids is an organization that is committed to working with our schools and communities to create programs and policies aimed at educating and activating our youth.  By promoting better nutrition, regular physical activity and general wellness, we believe this grassroots effort could only lead to a healthier future for us all.
